Mushroom, aubergine and lentil cottage pie (frozen)
Dating from the 18th century (not ours of course!), the cottage pie was originally a vehicle for using up leftovers. As time has gone by, it has become a firm winter food favourite - a buttery mashed potato topping with greens covering a rich interior.
