Havenhills tasting menu evening May 2025

Add to calendar:
6 course tasting menu

This evening could be for you if - you are tempted by our food but just not quite sure; or if you like our events, which tend to be quite fun and a lovely opportunity to meet other local people.

This is a chance for you to try our food and see what goes into our weekly hampers. Our menu is confirmed the week before as we will be dependent on what is available in the field.

Join us in our loft as we talk you through each course, the ingredients within it and how and why we operate as we do.

The courses will be as follows:

  • Dip, topper and focaccia
  • Soup
  • Pasta and sauce
  • Main dish
  • Tart, slaw and mixed leaves
  • Sweet treat

Wine, beer and soft drinks will be available to purchase.

Our loft is the upstairs of one of our converted barns, and there is a steep staircase. We always recommend sensible shoes when visiting our farm as it is full of uneven surfaces.

The evening will only be two hours long, we are offering this at a much reduced rate than our normal events, and have looked for all the ways we can to reduce our costs. Plenty of time to head home to watch your favourite series!

Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or food intolerances and we will do our best to cater for you. If you are in any doubt please read our allergen info at the bottom of our website.

Growing

Each day will include time outside learning about all aspects of growing vegetables, from sewing, transplanting, caring for plants and harvesting. We will examine the different ways of growing with nature, why it is important to grow without chemicals. We will also spend time studying the soil, understanding it's fundamental importance as an ecosystem and ways of looking after it.

Cooking

We will harvest vegetables from the field, and use these in the kitchen each day to produce a shared lunch and supper. This will allow us to cover all sorts of ways of cooking with vegetables in new and inspiring ways. We will also look into the basics of nutrition and why food advice is changing to encourage us to eat more vegetables.
